CONNECTION TO PILSEN:

I am new to living in the neighborhood but not new to visiting the neighborhood. I used to come here a lot for good Mexican food, concerts at Thalia Hall, as well as art events. I always had a great time when visiting the neighborhood and wanted to eventually move here so I'm very excited to now be living in this community.

ARTIST BIO/STATEMENT:

My name is Muddy, known on Instagram as MahmudTheMedium. I am an artist from Chicago and I have been creating art for most of my life. It started with pencils, then markers, which then led to graffiti, and then acrylics. I primarily paint on canvas with acrylics, I create mixed media illustrations on bristol paper, as well as digital artwork. When doing larger scale murals I use more spray paint in addition to acrylic paint.  Within my art, I have developed a few original characters that represent a constant battle between negative and positive energy. My characters are used to depict emotions both good and bad, internal struggles as well as internal victories. I strive to tell new and/or continued stories with each new piece that I create. My art is very narrative driven and different pieces tend to represent panels within the same story board. My inspirations and influences stem from where I grew up, my travels, music, anime, and film. If something can evoke an emotion out of me, chances are it will inspire my next piece in some way, shape, or form.  Thanks for checking me out!
