About the Event
Poetry can be a portal to release what you’ve been holding onto the page.
Join Rocio Franco, @chio_la_chingona, for a two-part Poetry as Portal workshop.
May 7th & 28th / 12pm to 2pm
We’ll discuss misconceptions about poetry, poems from Chicago-raised and based poets/Latinx/Chicanx poets, and have fun writing prompts to get us writing. Let’s talk, write, and be in community together.
*All writing levels are welcome.
*Bring your notebooks and pens/pencils or laptop.
*We encourage attending both dates, but showing up to one is ok too.
*Recommended for ages 18+
** Workshops are accessible to everyone. Please select your ticket registration that best fits your accesibility.
About the Instructor!
Rocío Franco is a Chicana warrior poet. She holds a fellowship from The Watering Hole. She’s also an alum of Jericho Brown and VONA. She is a Best of the Net nominee, and her poetry has been taught to high schoolers in New York. Her poems have appeared in The Acentos Review, the Chicago Reader, the Exposition Review, the Latinx Anthology: What They Leave Behind, La Libreta, La Raîz Magazine, Newcity Magazine, and others.
