About the Event
“Two Sides of Gemini: Communicating with Self and Other” is the third activation of “Putting the Pieces Together: A Communal ArtSpace Exhibition” (PTPT) and will be facilitated by featured artist, Musu Bangura.
The ArtSpace and Musu are calling all woo woo babes, astro queers and zine lovers!
“Two Sides of Gemini” gives participants an opportunity to contribute to a community zine that reflects on this past Gemini season. Thanks to its ruling planet, Mercury, this sign is known for playful energy and powerful communication. Participants are encouraged to tap into their inner Mercurian energy as we honor the end of Gemini season by collaboratively crafting a zine on canvas.
What lessons about your personal life journey have come to the surface this season? What are ways that play can be invited into your life as we move into a new astrological season? Use this space, the canvas and materials provided to reflect these questions as we create with others.”

This workshop is brought to us by @thee_artspace as part of "Communal ArtSpace" / "Putting the Pieces Together" which is in full effect, June 1st-July 2nd as an activated exhibition and community art project. Centering BIPOC queer and trans creatives and making history in art is the goal and we want YOU to be a part of it. Being a creative can be as simple as claiming it. We want folks to claim their power, make their mark, and contribute to our collective works of art.
“Putting the Pieces Together” led by @thee_artspace , explores identity and the role that art plays in how we understand one another. This Communal ArtSpace exhibition was inspired by multidisciplinary artist, Learenna Reynolds, who described the process of collage as “putting a puzzle together.” Centering collage work from some of Chicago’s most amazing collage artists, we deepen connection between ourselves and within ourselves to piece together our life experiences.
There will be 5 activations for this exhibition in which some of our exhibiting artists will facilitate a workshop and guide community through a visual art collaboration.
Be ready to join us, contribute to our community canvas, and be the creative that you are.
Exhibiting artists:
Communal ArtSpace is an activated exhibition and community art project where both the audience and the artists are at the center of the art show.
Each Communal ArtSpace has a theme and associated medium.
Artists get the opportunity to interact more with the community while viewers get the chance to make art and learn from the artists. Collaborative art made during Communal ArtSpace will be presented at the end of the year.
