Meet local children’s book authors and enjoy sample readings of their culturally responsive and diverse books in English and Spanish.
WE INVITE ALL CHILDREN TO COME IN THEIR FAVORITE HERO COSTUME! Free stickers, fun family activities, LIVE MUSIC, & FREE MINI SCOOPS available on a first come first serve basis on SUNDAY.
Donation-based food and drinks will be available thanks to our generous sponsors, Pollo Locuas, 5Rabbit Brewery, and 51st Ward Books. Proceeds go to Pilsen Arts Community House.
Books and family-friendly merchandise will also be available for purchase.

Massiel Zaragoza is a public school dual language educator in Chicago and doctoral student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her books, Mi prima islena/My Island Cousin and Somos gemelas pero no identicas!/We are twins but we are not identical! are her debut children's books. Both books were inspired by her four daughters, who are being raised to be bilingual and multicultural.

Luis Rodriguez is a local children’s book author and CPS Upper Grade Civics Teacher. Blessed husband and father of 3 frijolitos. He is a poet, rebel, seeker of Earth’s wonders, wannabe art and sci-fi nerd, and determined to find the best vegan taco. More importantly, he is devoted to guide to children to become the heroes of their life story.
